A new study by Amit Deshpande and Dirk Riehle at SAP Labs
shows that the growth of open source software is exploding at an exponential
rate. In their research, they analyzed
the total amount of source code and the total number of open source projects. The results illustrate that software
development is rapidly changing from a closed propietary model, to a more open,
community driven model at an astounding rate.
